Today, we are constructing state-of-the-art nanocoatings technologies to solve highly challenging problems in the transportation industry. Our technologies are helping advanced sensor systems for autonomous vehicles and smart cities maintain operations in harsh weather conditions, offer advanced functionalities to the defense sector, and enabling our aftermarket product line: ExoShield.
ExoShield is a thin, transparent film that is applied on a vehicle’s windshield (just like window tint) to prevent stone chips. It is a must have for today’s ADAS-equipped vehicle owners who want to protect themselves against expensive windshield replacements and for insurance companies looking to protect themselves against rising glass claim costs.
We are backed by Canada’s leading angels and venture capitalists, and are also supported by Canada’s leading institutions such as the University of Waterloo, Waterloo Institute of Nanotechnology, Velocity, and the Creative Destruction Lab.
Our #1 priority is to grow our ExoShield Dealer Network to 50+ countries by the end of 2019, and in this role, you will be making impactful and crucial contributions to this goal by delivering highly scalable tools and processes.
ADAS technologies powering the safety features in vehicles today are skyrocketing windshield replacement costs, and as a result, the need for windshield protection technologies is higher than ever. We believe this trend is extremely similar to the onset of the smart phone industry, which made cell phones extremely expensive and as a result, created a multi-billion-dollar market for cell phone screen protectors and cases.
Today, we rely on a set of in-house constructed web tools and systems, the Alchemy Dealer Portal, to improve a wide range of transactional experiences for our dealers and distribution partners. In this role, you will be responsible for improving user experience for various transactions, creating and automating new processes, building dashboards, build cross-platform integrations, data backup systems, payment flows, and more.
We expect this role to start on an individual per-project contract basis, but are totally open to other frameworks.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We expect projects in this role to have a well defined scope, timeline, budget, and set of deliverables. Alchemy is a startup, which means there will be no hand holding. We will work with you to define the project we’d like tackled and trust that you can find the best way to solve it.
It won't bother us if you're a junior developer or need to learn/sharpen up on a few skill sets. As long as you are detail oriented, take pride in your work, have a good eye for design, and bring a contagious enthusiasm to everything you to, we’re willing to look over just about anything.
The following experiences and skills will help you ramp-up quickly and kick ass in this role:
1) Experience with server side languages (we use PHP)
2) Experience with front end technologies & frameworks (we use Materialize, jQuery, and CSS)
3) Experience with relational databases (we use mySQL)
4) Experience working with APIs to automate tasks (we use Zapier, Stripe, MailChimp, Twilio, HubSpot, etc.) or automating on the server side (we use Cron)
5) Experience implementing and working inside source control (Git on Github)
