Tired of the daily development grind? Read on, this just might be the creative and challenging opportunity you’ve been waiting for!
Derivative, the company behind the interactive visuals platform TouchDesigner, is looking for an in-house experienced web developer to join our Toronto-based team on a full-time basis.
Our software TouchDesigner is used by creatives the world over [by companies like Moment Factory, Deadmau5, Cirque de Soleil, Disney Imagineering] to create stunning live visual displays for art exhibits, museum installations, theme parks, feature films, music events and virtual worlds (Have a look at some examples here). You’ll join a highly motivated and hardworking team, helping to build, support and market a product that is used by thousands of technical artists in over 60 countries.
We have just overhauled our web presence with the assistance of a talented group of outside UI/UX experts, DevOps specialists, and front- and back-end engineers. Now we’re bringing the project in house, and are looking for someone to help grow the architecture and infrastructure. This includes implementing new features, integrating the site with our core application, and managing the relationships with our outside suppliers who will remain available on a consultative basis. The applicant will work closely with the whole team in creating an online ecosystem for Derivative’s customers to promote user-generated TouchDesigner projects, allow smooth access to documentation and facilitate simple ways of sharing knowledge.
A list of technical skills and qualifications can be found below, but we’re just as interested in hiring based on a good fit with our company culture, namely someone who is passionate, creative, eager for challenges, able to take the initiative and work independently when required, but also hunker down and join a team sprint when necessary. If this sounds like you, then drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org
Applicants should have:
significant hands-on experience with LAMP stack web application development.
a solid understanding of modern cloud DevOps strategies, code workflows, CI/CD pipelines, Git.
expertise in developing, debugging, and performance tuning Drupal websites, themes and contributed modules.
a good grasp of security principles, network infrastructure and API architectures.
previous experience with MediaWiki, Discourse forum software, Apache SOLR and AWS is an asset, and knowledge of Python a plus.
strong verbal and written communication skills.
