JOB DESCRIPTION – Big Data Infrastructure Engineer
Ecopia Tech is an industry leading AI company specializing in extracting insights from geospatial big data. Millions of geospatial images are captured every day by satellites, airplanes, and other vehicles - Ecopia leverages AI to converts this flood of pixels into high definition (HD) vector maps and extract insight from HD maps to empower a wide range of decision makers at global scale.
We have built an AI system which significantly reduces the time and cost of creating HD vector maps at scale. To date, we have successfully deployed the AI system to map two continents in their entirety. Now, we are looking to go even bigger: mapping the whole world! We’re seeking passionate, talented engineers to join us at our Toronto office to help us fulfil our mission. You will be working alongside our engineering team to enhance our AI system for creating HD vector map at a global scale and build a map platform on top of the map content to support geospatial big data analysis. The position is permanent, full-time and will have a highly competitive salary, eligible for stock options, annual salary increases, and bonuses.
Working alongside the product team to design and develop database/infrastructure to support accessing, visualizing, and processing geospatial big data at large scale
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor degree or above in Computer Science or related fields
Strong problem solving skills
Deep understanding of SQL and database optimization
Hands-on experience with technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Map Reduce, Spark, Sqoop, Kafka, Flume, etc
Experience with developing cloud based software service for data visualization and processing is a plus
