Cloud Storage Administrator

The main responsibility of the Cloud Storage Administrator is advanced server and application administration, design, key project deliverables and leadership in our mission critical datacenters. These mixed systems are designed for high-availability and performance and are the critical infrastructure from which the D2L SaaS offering is based. You will be part of a team of highly experienced IT professionals responsible for delivering the world class Learning Suite of D2L products to millions of students and education institutions around the world.


  • Day-to-day operations of D2L's Cloud physical and virtual server platforms
  • Tuning platforms per vendor specifications for optimal performance, scalability, reliability and security
  • Developing and maintaining systems documentation such as architecture diagrams and utilization reports
  • Patching of systems
  • Ensuring systems are being appropriately monitored
  • Capacity planning for systems
  • Identification and communication of system risks
  • Installation of new systems
  • Incident response and resolution
  • Adhering to departmental protocols and procedures such as change and incident management systems
  • Monitoring the system for faults and ensuring they are resolved in a timely fashion
  • Ensuring any backup strategies D2L has in place are being met and any customer commitments are being met
  • Working with the Cloud Architecture team to install and/or configure new hardware
  • Maintenance window work is a requirement of this role
  • Reasonable on-call rotation is a requirement of this role


  • Mission critical service provider experience
  • Cloud and automation systems experience
  • Scripting and Programming Languages (PowerShell PHP, Ruby, Python, Perl, etc)
  • Deep technical understanding of AWS and surrounding services
  • Experience with NetApp and S3
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Comfort in 24x7x365, always on environment
  • Strong knowledge of all SAN/NAS related protocols (FC, FCoE, iSCSI, CIFS, NFS, etc)


  • AWS Professional Level Certification
  • Microsoft SQL Server experience
  • Backup experience
  • ITIL experience


  • Technical diploma/degree in a related field required
  • ITIL principles
