The Opportunity

The Software Developer, iOS plays a key role in our native application development teams as we continue to build and enhance one of Canada’s most popular apps, The Weather Network/MétéoMédia.  You will be hands-on with the development of our iOS application, working alongside other team members to deliver a best in class & quality Weather experience!

A day in the life of an Software Developer, iOS:

  • Create, enhance, and maintain new and existing features in our iOS application.

  • Work as a dynamic and highly participative member of an Agile team that collaborates closely on mob and paired programming.

  • Take part in requirement analysis, design, implementation, integration, testing, documentation and deployment of our iOS application.

  • Contribute to the introduction of new designs, patterns, and technologies within our native platforms.

  • Write ‘Clean Code’, following clean architecture.

  • Create automated tests at every level of the pyramid, from Unit Tests to UI and Acceptance Tests.

  • Works in a TDD / ATDD development approach.

  • Live the Agile process by being a vocal participant.

  • Ensure that we are taking advantage of the latest that the native platforms have to offer like iOS 12.

  • Collaborate with other Developers, the team’s Tech Lead, QA, Scrum Master, Product Owner, Designer and other stakeholders to ensure high quality production ready code.

This is what YOU have:

  • University degree in Computer Science, or College diploma in Computer Programming, Information Technologies or a related discipline

  • Minimum 2 years related job experience.

  • Solid Object Oriented Design and Analysis Skills and modern development practices.

  • Experience working with Test Driven Development.

  • Practical experience with design patterns.

  • In-depth programming experience and knowledge of Swift and Objective-C

  • Experience with:

  • iOS Platform frameworks and API’s (e.g. CoreLocation, CoreData, UIKit)

  • IDE’s (e.g., XCode, Git)

  • Data retrieval and management including remote source and techniques and semantics of doing so (e.g.,  XML, RESTful)

  • Caching data and efficiently loading data for use (e.g., SQLite, CoreData, lazy loading)

But what really makes you stand out is…

  • Experience with cross-platform languages and technologies such as React Native and/or Flutter

  • Experience with Cloud applications and services

  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and analyze a problem.

  • Works well as a member of an Agile team.
