You are a hardware engineer who has been working with FPGAs for years and know how to write synthesizable RTL to produce efficient logic designs. You have experience building large scale FPGA systems that would include such design elements as multiple clock domains, high speed memory, and SERDES interfaces. You’re a problem solver, you enjoy working with electrical designers and software engineers to debug system wide problems. You appreciate how valuable a system wide simulation is to be able to creatively solve really hard problems.
What You Will Do:
- Work in a cross-functional team to build and debug prototype systems. These prototypes will be used to de-risk our development effort early in the product development stages.
- Develop custom modules and integrate 3rd party IP to build high speed FPGA systems running on the latest generation of Xilinx/Altera FPGAs.
- Work with other engineers to design and code sub-modules that are being used in new ASICs we’re developing and help with system wide debugging/validation efforts.
- Document your creations.
Within 30 days you will:
- Come up to speed on the current design and technologies we’re using.
- Design/code/simulate a module that will go into an ASIC we are designing.
- Design your first FPGA system for one of our existing project teams that allows them to move forward with their investigation work.
Beyond 30 days you will:
- Design and build larger FPGA systems that can be used by teams to prototype ASIC functionality prior to full silicon availability.
- Get involved with our existing ASIC projects, helping to define the RTL for those systems.
What You Need:
- 3+ years experience designing real logic using VHDL or Verilog.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Experience working with ModelSIM or similar tools.
- Experience building a simulation test bench including a system wide simulation of your design.
- Experience working with the latest generation of Altera or Xilinx FPGAs including the steps needed to make a design meet timing and size constraints.
- Experience working with one of the following technologies; High speed memory, SERDES, HDMI or similar, video processing.
- Experience with a common scripting language such as TCL.
- Experience debugging and stabilizing your designs while supporting system and hardware testin
Bonus Points For:
- Experience designing for the Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC
- Experience with common video solutions such as warping or color calibration
- Experience with sensor or MEMS system design
- Experience programming in C or C++
- Experience working in a higher level design language such as System C
