The Opportunity

NEXT Canada is seeking an engaging, high-energy, creative, well organized, motivated and efficient individual to join our growing team.

You will have primary responsibility for the management and delivery of the NextAI Program, working closely with other members of the NEXT programs team. Your exciting mission is to ensure NEXT is offering a world class AI accelerator and founder development program, and going above and beyond to help our amazing entrepreneurs succeed with their ventures.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • The effective delivery of the many elements of the Toronto-based NextAI program, including:

    • Recruitment, application and selection processes

    • Venture incorporation and legal aspects

    • The NextAI business and technical training streams, including the smooth delivery of classes, faculty contracts and travel, classroom space, etc.

    • Events such as Immersion Week, Venture Day, workshops and dinners, coordinating onsite execution, venues, invitations, vendors, etc.

    • Venture seed funding activities

    • Immigration legal supports for international participants

    • Program evaluation and identifying ongoing improvements

  • Acting as primary point of contact for NextAI Toronto program participants, building relationships with them and supporting them through the program

  • Playing a very hands-on role in identifying opportunities for ventures to make connections to wider community (e.g. with mentors and advisors, investors, business development leads)

  • Working closely with NextAI - Montreal partners at HEC business school to ensure alignment and shared benefit across the program

  • Taking a highly collaborative approach in working with other parts of the NEXT Canada team, including NEXT’s other programs, communications and marketing, and development activities


Preferred Candidate Specifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in a related area

  • Completion of a university or college degree in a relevant field

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and engaging demeanor, and ability to work with a range of people within and outside the organization

  • Experience and networks within the Canadian entrepreneurship and startup communities is an important asset

  • Project management experience is an asset

  • Knowledge or experience with venture finance and investment management is an asset

  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Familiarity and comfort using cloud-based applications and tools (i.e. Slack, program recruitment tools, CRM, etc)

  • Willingness to take on some evening and weekend work, and potentially some travel

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50,000 - $66,000, to be negotiated based on qualifications and experience. NEXT also offers a competitive benefits package and group RRSP program.
