Temporary Hire: Controller

Primarily responsible for overseeing and producing all of the necessary financial information for the Executive Staff to aid in their decision-making process. The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and has management responsibility, both directly and indirectly, for all Finance personnel in the performance of their daily tasks. Strong management skills and the ability to manage and implement processes is a requirement.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  • Financial Reporting
  • Manages month-end reporting process, including posting month end payroll related accruals, completing detailed analysis of subsidiary results, reviewing various reconciliations and performing variance analysis of actual results vs. prior months and plan
  • Oversees monthly consolidation process, including preparing monthly financial reporting packages for the Executive Team, Board of Directors and Lenders
  • Prepares annual financial statements and related notes in accordance with US GAAP
  • Prepares quarterly and ad-hoc Board of Directors meeting materials
  • Presents financial information and financial and administrative business recommendations to the CFO and Executive Committee.
  • Monitors and assess the impact of accounting, financial reporting and regulatory developments

 

  • Audit and Tax Compliance
  • Liaises with external audit teams on an annual and ad-hoc basis
  • Prepares monthly tax provision adjustments; including transfer pricing impacts
  • Gathers information required by external tax consultants for the preparation of annual corporate tax extensions and final returns
  • Responds to requests from Federal, State and Provincial tax authorities
  • Manages the implementation of US sales and local tax compliance
  • Liaises with external tax teams on ad-hoc basis

 

  • Contract Administration
  • Manages the contract administration database roll-out
  • Responsible for developing and reviewing reporting KPIs once database is functional
  • Strategizes methodologies for integrating new contracts resulting from acquisitions
  • Manages the Chart of Accounts, including deactivating and creating new accounts
  • Creates new billing Items within the NetSuite ecosystem, as requested by Product
  • Manages relationships with banking institutions and merchant services
  • Assists with the resolution of billing challenges
  • Approves bi-weekly Payroll
  • Reviews monthly sales/marketing commissions calculations
  • Performs formal and informal ad-hoc special analysis and reports, as required by the CEO/CFO, to support Executive Team strategic objectives and decision-making
  • Participates in acquisition integration related activities, as required
  • Assists in the annual budgeting process by providing insights into timing of certain expected balance sheet and cash flow movements
  • Works with senior leaders in various departments to improve business processes
  • Responsible for hiring, evaluations, commendations, reprimands and dismissals regarding supervised staff, if applicable
  • Manages the daily Finance Department operations
  • Oversees and directs the activities of the Finance Department and staff
  • Ensures that internal controls within the Finance Department are in place and being followed
