The Opportunity:
We are looking for someone that is inspired and brings new ideas forward while rolling up their sleeves to help in every aspect of project delivery. Individual Life and S&R Systems Quality Assurance covers a specialized area dedicated to high-quality application and solution delivery for applications supporting the Individual Life and Savings & Retirement lines of business. Your activities will include planning, developing, coordinating and participating in the full suite of testing activities including functional, system integration, and end-to-end testing activities for core systems. 

What you’ll do:

  • Define and refine QA best practices to ensure quality deliverables at optimal costs
  • Provide QA thought leadership
  • Make recommendations on best practice and use of quality management and defect tracking software
  • Proactively put forward ideas that speak to project objectives (e.g. development, testing solutions, and tools)
  • Provide guidance to other junior/intermediate staff on various assignments
  • Assess testing requirements and identify appropriate resources, processes and tools for the project
  • Develop and maintain a Master Test Plan, overall Test Strategy for projects incorporating project risk, timelines and scope
  • Create, maintain and execute test plans, test cases, automation testing frameworks and performance benchmarking and testing standards using Agile and Waterfall software development processes
  • Perform automated and manual testing in mainframe/GUI based environment
  • Apply Risk Based Testing techniques to ensure the best use of testing resources and testing time
  • Lead appropriate checkpoint reviews

 

What you’ll need:

  • Eight (8) or more years of software testing experience
  • Sound knowledge of QA practices, tools, methodology and processes
  • Experience with Test Management tools such as Quality Center, ALM and MTM
  • Knowledge of web service testing tools such as SoapUI and Postman
  • Knowledge of API testing tools
  • Hands on experience testing mainframe/GUI based systems
  • Experience in Life Insurance and/or Savings & Retirement systems such as: Ingenium, Unitrax, iFast and FundServ
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative
  • To be a team oriented bridge builder and improve strength of team via coaching and mentoring
  • Ability to inspire a positive work environment and help champion quality, innovation, teamwork and service to the business
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, College diploma or equivalent work experience
  • A passion for quality and technology and an understanding of how things fit together
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills mixed with a whole lot of common sense and practicality 
  • Team orientation and talent for interpersonal bridge building
  • Ability to think boldly, but act measuredly

 

Nice to Haves:

  • Hands on experience with UFT and Selenium or related automation test tools
  • Knowledge and Experience with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Continuous Integration
  • Have or working towards QA Certification
  • Exposure to PeopleSoft FMS application, PeopleSoft Finance Modules, and PeopleTools
  • General knowledge of International Financial reporting Standards (IFRS)
