About The Position 

As part of the Operations team, the Test System Development Engineer ensures the required Test Systems are designed, developed, deployed, maintained to ensure Aeryon’s sUAS and payloads are fully tested before shipping to our customers.

As a Test System Development Engineer you will: 

Regular Tasks

  • Provide project proposals in A3 Format including Cost / Benefit Analysis
  • Design automated test system for existing and future Aeryon products by:
    • Designing required PCBs
    • Developing the Software
    • Hardware identification, purchase and implementation
    • Complete all technical documentation for system including consumables and spare parts lists
    • Focus on eliminating need of any Aeryon sub-assemblies as part of the test system
  • Deploy system to manufacturing floor including managing resources to completed the flowing tasks:
    • Gauge R&R study on system
    • Deploy operator work instructions
    • Complete operator training
    • Deploy PM/TMP/Calibration schedule
  • Deploy replica test systems to outsourcing sites
  • Maintain all deployed systems with SW or HW updates as required
  • Participate in Aeryon’s New Product development cycle by:
    • Review and feedback on MTRs
    • Develop MTS’ based on provided MTR
    • DFT/DFX reviews
    • Participate in troubleshooting and testing of NPIs to validate design
  • Ensure Team KPIs are updated on a regular basis thru JIRA / Other Project management tools
  • Document problem solving using RCCA or A3 format
  • Participate in C.I. culture by being engaged in Idea, 5S, safety programs
  • Review Test Yield KPIs and work to improve Test System issues
  • Collaborate with Software, Hardware Design and other teams in Kaizens to improve Product and Process

Secondary Tasks (Backup help to Assembly Test Technician and Assembly Test Team)

On rare occasions you may be required to help production team with any of the following tasks:

  • Debug test fails both at Assembly and PCB level for Fresh Production and RMA Systems
  • Dis-assemble electrical and mechanical components and systems as required to completed debug
  • Use Test and Investigation equipment such as: Multi-meter, Oscilloscope, Microscope, Power supplies, Thermal Chambers, X-Ray Machine to completed failure investigations
  • Complete deep dive investigation including debugging electrical circuits down to component level
  • Collaborate with other functional teams during deep dive investigations
  • Test electrical and mechanical components and systems
  • Assist in product validation and flight testing when required
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years’ experience engineering role with focus on System Development
  • In-depth knowledge of equipment such as: Multi-meter, Oscilloscopes, Microscope, Power supplies, Thermal Chambers, X-Ray Machine, Power Meters, and reference sensor
  • SW Languages: Must be able to code in one of the following languages: Python, C+, C++, C-Sharp, Visual Basic
  • Mechatronics background is an asset
  • Ability to read Circuit Diagrams, assembly instructions, and technical documentation
  • Able to solve problems from symptom to root cause using one of the structured methodologies such as A3, DMAIC, 8 Steps of Problem Solving, RCCA, etc
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing concepts (5S, 8 Wastes, Kaizen, Standardized Work, RCCA, A3)
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English
  • PCBA – IPC inspection is considered an asset
