Biosensor Technician

Position: Biosensor Technician, Full-Time 
Location: Kitchener, Ontario
Experience: All levels will be considered
Education: Undergraduate or College degree in chemical or biological sciences/engineering

Nicoya Lifesciences is a team of engineers and scientists with extensive experience working at the forefront of nanotechnology, biochemistry, and optical sensors. We are based in Kitchener, Ontario - Canada's Silicon Valley. Our mission is to bring high-quality sensor products with unique, innovative designs to market to solve some of the world's most important problems. Our first product, OpenSPR, is a scientific instrument for the biotechnology research and development industry. It provides detailed information on molecular interactions using optical nanosensor technology known as localized surface plasmon resonance. It is the most affordable SPR instrument on the market and will disrupt an industry that has been primarily dominated by highly expensive and complex instrumentation.

About You:
You are detail-oriented and you love working with your hands. You want to use your science/engineering background in an upcoming area of biotech. You are driven, organized, good with pipettes, and you view this as more than just a job. You can manage your time well and work independently. You want to work for a small company that dreams big. 

A Day In The Job:
- Batch manufacturing of sensors for Nicoya’s major product, OpenSPR
- Conduct quality control protocols on manufactured sensors
- Quality documentation and organization of manufactured batches
- Chemical treatment of sensors for biological functionality
- Optimization of manufacturing and quality assurance procedures

Our Ideal Candidate Has:
- Strong knowledge of general chemistry and biology
- Hands-on experience in general chemistry/biology laboratory techniques such as pipetting and buffer preparation
- Excellent time management & organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- High standards for their work
- A positive attitude & stays motivated

Bonus Points For:
- Knowledge of organic chemistry and experience in organic synthesis
- Clean room experience
- Experience with a variety of bioconjugation techniques
- Experience with batch manufacturing
- Experience working with nanoparticles
- Experience with biological interactions
