Engineering Technical Lead

At Talk IQ our aim is to help businesses truly understand and react to what their customers are saying. To do this, we’ve built a proprietary enterprise speech recognition (ESR) and natural language processing (NLP) capabilities to enable client facing teams to understand and act on key moments with customers, including recognizing purchase intent, handling objections, responding to competitors, pricing, building rapport, closing, implementation, troubleshooting, renewal, and more.

As Engineering Technical Lead, you will act as a team leader to bring exceptional management and technical skills to our growing team of backend developers - someone who can work directly with our CTO & Product manager, guiding the team as we scale. In this role you will challenge and grow our engineers with the individual in mind. Your primary focus is your team and the people in it, and we expect you to build a great culture with diversity as a core value. Passionate about the science of conversations, APIs, DSP, and scaling systems that support transcription & analysis of thousands of simultaneous conversations while also optimizing for security, speed, and cost (whew!)? What You’ll Do - Function

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of the products and features from initial proof of concept and multiple iterations through to scalable, production-worthy functionality

  • Build sustainable engineering practices through, among other things, active code reviews, leading architecture discussions, guiding selection of technologies, and mentorship

  • Grow the technical expertise of your teams in areas of performance, scalability, maintainable architecture and experimentation

  • Recruit excellent new engineers to your team

  • Build and maintain process with team to manage technical debt through iteration of features

What You Bring - Experience

  • 5+ years experience in a software engineering role

  • 2+ years experience as a lead or manager

What You Have - Skill

  • Languages: Python, C++, Clojure

  • Data: RDBMS, NoSQL, shared storage, ETLs, queuing systems, Pub/Sub, Message Buses

  • Operations: cloud providers (i.e. GCloud, AWS, etc.), Docker, orchestration systems (Kubernetes, Ansible, etc.), CI/CD Systems (Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.)

  • Also: Linux, Git, and lots of VoIP

  • Thrive when developing great people, not just great products

  • Are committed to personal and professional growth both inside and outside of the workplace, through code reviews, conferences, and exploration or new processes and technology
