DevOps / System Engineer

About the Role:

Kiite is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our fast-moving team and own our infrastructure. We're looking for someone with knowledge of Linux systems administration and coding skills to automate our engineering and data science tasks. We want someone who will create systems and processes that make the entire product team more efficient.

You should be passionate about getting in front of problems instead of waiting until things are on fire. You're comfortable quickly shipping your first version of a system, and iterating alongside our engineering team to release improvements. If you dream of stability, think in metrics, and love building reliable systems that hum along and take care of themselves, we want you on the team.

In this role you’ll:

  • Implement thoughtfully-designed development workflows

  • Maintain our CI/CD pipeline and the tooling that makes it all work in a sane and reproducible way

  • Preach the religion of monitoring, metrics, and logging

  • Make these better and more actionable

  • Write tools to automatically deploy/scale our services and our workers

  • Build, automate, update, and maintain shared infrastructure e.g. vault, Redis, RabbitMQ, etc

  • Plan and execute large architectural changes such as migrating backend services out of EC2 Container Services, designing an EC2 auto-scaler, and moving towards international hosting

  • Obsess about infrastructure as code and documentation

In your first 6 months on the team, you will:

  • Build tools alongside our data science team automate our data processing pipeline

  • Get security/permissions processes and policies in place

  • Automate application deployment so that we can deploy faster and more expertly

  • Design the next version of our CI/CD infrastructure

What we’re looking for:

Don’t worry if you don’t have all of the qualifications listed below - we’re particularly interested in someone that learns quickly, so if you only meet some of the criteria below but think you’re up for the challenge, please still reach out - we’d love to talk to you!

  • Software development background, experience building software systems

  • Background in Linux administration

  • Experience with IaaS/cloud services such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc

  • Understanding of IT security standards

  • Understanding of Docker and containerized systems

  • Experience with automation/configuration software (puppet, chef, ansible etc), and/or orchestration software (terraform, docker swarm, kubernetes, etc)

  • Experience with administration of Redis, PostgreSQL, Nginx, etc, at production scales

  • Strong understanding of AWS systems and services, particularly EC2 and RDS
