About The Role

Igloo is looking for a Senior DevOps Automation Specialist to join their IT & Hosting Team. This role will report into the VP of IT and give you the opportunity to work with many different technologies in a fast-paced environment. Your day will consist of:

  • Automation – creation & improvement of tools & scripts to better support the hosted environments
     
  • Building – focusing on projects that introduce tools as it relates to automation and quicker resolution times for incidents
     
  • Troubleshooting – web environments, MSSQL, and improving the overall stability of our systems
     
  • Read/Write - C# and JavaScript to test and troubleshoot Igloo platform issues
     
  • Database Admin – MSSQL administration including performance improvements, Read/write SQL queries

You will be responsible for automating manual processes and introducing tools which will improve inefficiencies.  Essentially you will build solutions which will help the company detect and resolve issues quicker.  You will be loved by many!  This role will require working cross functionally with  IT Hosting, Support and Development. Troubleshooting our platform will also be required as necessary.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Automate: identify areas where we can programmatically automate routine cloud deployment, administration, troubleshooting and monitoring tasks
     
  • Process Improvement: continuous updates to documentation as processes improve and change
     
  • Project Work: communicate and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders during deployment projects
     
  • Troubleshooting: investigate and troubleshoot hosted SaaS solution (Windows, Linux, IIS, .NET, C#, JavaScript, networking) this includes tools like browser dev tools, Fiddler, APM’s, Wireshark to determine corrective actions
     
  • Teamwork: work cross functionally with Development and Support to deliver projects to specify, design, develop, test, and implement cloud deployments
     
  • Problem Solve: leverage your experience to find the root cause of defects and work to proactively address them

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in enterprise application hosting and troubleshooting experience
  • Diploma or degree in Information Technology or Computer Science and/or relevant experience 
  • Expert with Powershell
  • Expert with automating all the things ie: SSL purchase/install
  • Experience scaling web apps including automation in auto scaling
  • Strong experience with MSSQL Database administration and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read/write C# & JavaScript to troubleshoot Igloo platform issues
  • Experience migrating from on-premises to Azure
  • Experience with cloud platforms, visualization platforms and containers (Azure & VMWare)
  • Experience in security protection is an asset
  • Experience with F5 and networking is a definite asset
  • Ability & Willingness to work on-call rotational schedule
  • Other technology used - Solr, ELK, Redis, Kafka, Postfix, NetApp, New Relic, Linux, Ansible, WAF
