We are seeking a software engineer to help design and build the media playback engines that power the highest quality movie watching experience available today. The ideal candidate has experience with Linux real-time operating system stack and has a passion for building robust solutions, contributing to media systems architecture and performance tuning. Candidates should be able to work independently, have excellent written and oral communication skills, be eager to learn.

Primary job functions include:

  • Design, build and extend the media engines that support playback of media for all player
  • Design, code and debug audio and video pipelines in a multi-threaded real time operating
    system on embedded hardware
  • Build new and extend existing features for the Kaleidescape Operating System
  • Work with a cross-functional team of platform/application/UI software engineers, test
    engineers, and user interface designers


  • You are proficient in C++
  • You have strong object-oriented design knowledge
  • You are experienced with embedded real-time operating systems and debugging in highly concurrent thread-based architectures
  • You have knowledge of digital audio and video technologies such as MP4, H.264/5, HDMI, HDCP,
  • You have knowledge of media streaming protocols, codecs, and transports/container formats:
    DASH, MPEG-2, H.264/AVC, AAC, AC3, MP4, MPEG-2 TS, etc.
