Business Data Analyst, Client Insights

Role Summary:

The Business Data Analyst, Client Insights reports to the Senior Data Manager, Client Insights within the Individual Marketing team.  The Individual Marketing team is accountable to define and deliver marketing programs that position effectively Sun Life’s distinctive value proposition with our target clients and advisors. This includes traditional marketing tactics as well as our digital properties such as the Client Engagement Digital Platforms. 

The Client Insights’ team focus is on gathering insights to understand clients’ needs, wants and motivations that will form the basis for client segmentations and engagement strategies. The Business Data Analyst role provides analysis and support to the team with a focus on developing, monitoring and optimizing of data across channels. The role directly supports our test and learn and continuous improvement environment by contributing to our collection of actionable insights.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for understanding all Marketing campaigns and relevant BU partner business processes in order to research, analyze, interpret and advise leaders on findings of analysis
  • Supports the evolution of automated closed loop fulfillment reporting for all Marketing segment activities through:
    • Participating as a subject expert in data development
    • Developing and supporting execution of Marketing operational closed loop fulfillment processes
    • Supports the development of campaign and reporting processes to take advantage of opportunities from the insights gained. Partners with Operations, Campaigns, Best Practices and other external Marketing partners, understanding and articulating business needs to ensure effective use and evolution of analyses
  • Works with Marketing program leaders and our Analytics team partners to define business needs and document detailed requirements for ongoing reporting and analytics solutions
  • Provides business subject expertise and business testing support for the development and testing of CRM, data, and reporting capabilities
  • Gather continuous improvement idea and present to team on an as required basis
  • Understand and comply fully with all privacy, confidentiality, marketing permissions, data security and other requirements related to the handling, access and storage of customer data
  • Support a work environment that promotes knowledge sharing, customer service, quality, innovation and teamwork
  • Participate in the design and development of operational user documentation, processes and tools
  • Maintains an inventory of Marketing reporting solutions including self-serve reporting analyses to share effort and identify opportunities for continuous improvement

Knowledge and experience:

  • University degree in Quantitative field: Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science with an emphasis in data management 
  • Advanced expertise in SAS, MS Excel and PowerPoint to manipulate and present results for business insight
  • Expertise in SQL coding
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio is an asset
  • Experience with SharePoint is an asset
  • Proven experience analyzing complex data sources and consolidating into meaningful information
