What can you expect in this role?

The Business Intelligence (BI) team is responsible for providing data, reporting, and business insights for effective decision-making to all levels of business users through structured projects and ad-hoc support. The Team Lead, BI will report directly to the BI Manager and will lead a team of four business intelligence professionals dedicated to supporting projects for different departments at Economical. You will guide the team in:

  • Supporting and delivering meaningful operational information from various corporate data sources (e.g. Data Hub and Corporate Data Warehouse) to business users;
  • Ensuring the maintenance and enhancement of best practice, including request intake & prioritization, documentation, training, and transition of BI processes for productionization by our IT team.

What do you bring to the role?

  • A university or college degree in computer science, business, mathematics, or a related discipline;

  • Prior work experience applying business intelligence solutions in the property and casualty insurance industry (minimum five years);

  • Proven leadership demonstrated through mentoring and developing business intelligence staff;

  • Strong analytical abilities, especially in the area of understanding business users' needs and matching those needs to data availability (minimum five years);

  • Strong in-depth understanding of relational databases;

  • Experience in tools such as Cognos 11, SAS, Tableau, IBM Data Studio, DB2 SQL, Oracle SQL (minimum experience five years);

  • Ability to understand internal systems and external data sources, independent of specific technology (minimum experience five years);
