Director of Product Management

What You’ll Do

  • Drive product direction, product plans/roadmaps, product evolution and product lifecycle in line with corporate strategic direction and annual strategic initiatives
  • Analyze proposed product requirements and product development programs
  • Establish value proposition and go-to-market (GTM) plan, prepare business cases and return-on-investment analyses; manage the P&L of the product line
  • Produce product requirement documents (PRD) including use cases and user stories based on the findings 
  • Gather, validate, and evaluate product/market requirements through market and customer research, competitive and product research
  • Identify, develop, and manage contractual, technical, and consulting relationships with strategic partners and providers
  • Prioritize product backlog and manage inflow of requests and communications with internal teams 
  • Lead product/investment plan to ensure a competitive market offer, balancing priorities across end-using customers, internal and external development teams and market opportunity 
  • Understand feature/timeline trade-off and drive towards resolution including user interface decisions and other product related issues 
  • Ensure consistent delivery of user- centric experiences developed with measurable goals, grounded in needs, supported by data, in an iterative fashion
  • Build consensus, and coordinate product schedules with a team of engineers; facilitate communication and work collaboratively throughout the development process between a variety of internal teams
  • Execute the role of product owner in release process and ensure rigour in release criteria definition and enforcement
  • Work with a cross-functional internal to gather customer feedback and ensure smooth and successful launches 
  • Integrate usability studies into platform requirements to deliver brilliant user experience and developer experience, making sure the products meet and exceeds market demand
  • Provide source data for communication with internal users and user community groups
  • Articulate new product features and benefits to internal groups, including marketing and sales
  • Generate Product marketing material for communicating product value to potential customers
  • Ensure product development processes adhere to Agile (or similar) principles and align with company resource planning and allocation efforts
  • Participate in continuous improvement of Agile and Lean practices by participating in retrospectives and contributing to design and deployment of new and improved processes, practices, and tools

Supervisory duties:

  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results
  • Lead a team of product management and partner with engineering professionals in the development of both strategic and tactical deliverables, and manage the team, a budget, and associated resources toward those ends
  • Assist in the assignment and management of a large cross-functional team to deliver product development results, leading through influence and by example

Desired Skills and Experiences:

  • Understanding of the social and human services market and vendor landscape to clearly define and position the Penelope product and related modules offering
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience in development of product strategy, execution and delivery of roadmap
  • Experience developing business cases 
  • Experience in full stack product management and project management 
  • Experience in management of a product team 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills 
  • Results-oriented with strong collaboration, negotiation and decision-making capabilities
  • Familiarity with tools such as Salesforce, JIRA, Aha, Confluence
  • Driving, planning, and interpreting both qualitative and quantitative research
  • Experience building cross-functional business relationships, gathering user requirements, translating requirements to technical specifications / user stories
  • Experience creating and contributing to a software product road-map, evangelizing the product vision, and grooming a back-log
  • Proven competency with agile processes, defining stories that are ready-for-engineering
  • Experience with defining, designing, implementing, and managing various product management and development methodologies
  • Experience with Pragmatic Marketing Framework
  • Hands on design experience with enterprise B2B SaaS applications for both technical and business users
  • Experience defining technical product features; from inception to execution
  • MBA, Computer Science and/or related degree
