Product Owner

Position Summary
This role is responsible to own, prioritize, and maintain the products and services for Miovision’s Traffic Data business.  This includes creating definition of  user stories, outcomes, and acceptance criteria to ensure impeccable features and functionality of the product. You provide vision and direction with clear requirements to the development team to support delivery of cutting-edge products that answer our customer needs and requirements. You are execution, delivery and metrics driven to ensure quality, on time results.

What we’d like you to do

A product owner is at the center of every development cycle. You are the leader responsible for maximizing the value of the products created by a scrum development team. But to do this, an agile product owner takes on several roles, including managing and prioritizing product backlog, overseeing product development stages, anticipating client needs through deep market analysis and customer liaison, liaising between development and sales/marketing teams, and evaluating the product at each iteration. 

Key Accountabilities

  •  Own, prioritize, and maintain the product including definition of features, user stories, acceptance criteria 
  • Communicate with Product Managers to understand customer problems, proposed solutions and provide feedback on the feasibility of those proposals 
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to set success/exit criteria for product initiatives and be capable of validating that criteria 
  • Serve as “voice of the customer” with delivery teams, representing/reinforcing the customer‘s perspective throughout the product realization cycle 
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of designers, developers, UX/UI, testers, sales, marketing, and others to develop and execute against product roadmaps and release plans 
  • Build and maintain product roadmap to continuously and transparently communicate with stakeholders the prioritization of the product backlog, and the status of development efforts via product demos, release plans and other means 
  • Collaborate with User Experience partners in usability testing and the development of the user design 
  • Promote and drive Agile development methodology throughout the work and teams 
  • Manage, prioritize, and assess the impact of defects, including providing final decisions to fix or defer 
  • Review, accept, and prioritize feedback and new requirements from stakeholders 

What we’d like you to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology field, or equivalent practical experience 
  • Previous work experience as a Product Owner for minimum of 3 yrs 
  • 4-7 years of experience in performing Product & Program Management related duties in a high-tech environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with product teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver full life-cycle hardware and/or software development 
  • Experience with Jira an asset 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Team player, with great work ethics and quick learner 
  • Experience working in a range of business areas (e.g., information technology, marketing, etc.) 
  • Detail oriented and obsessively organized 
  • Diplomatic with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills 
  • Comfortable driving teams and management to decisions; willing to push-back for information and answers 
  • Adept at adjusting to changing circumstances quickly and professionally 
  • Able to make quick decisions when clarification or modification is needed
