Merchandise Manager - Hand Tools & Sporting Goods

Responsible to the Director, Merchandise Hardlines for executing on the plan to buy and the plan to sell for the Hand Tools/Sporting Goods portfolio. 

Develop and maintain a productive and profitable product assortment in the Dealer Support Centre to drive retail sales, as well as managing vendor direct product.

Source Controlled branded / National branded product both domestically as well as internationally. Travel to shows, stores, and vendors as required both domestically and internationally.

Negotiate with vendors to support corporate initiatives and meet sales and margin targets; build strong retail assortments and manage ongoing vendor relationships.

Effectively lead and motivate the hand tool/sporting goods team to achieve objectives.

Develop and execute successful promotions and support marketing initiatives.

Support Home Dealers with timely and accurate product and vendor information.

Other projects as assigned by the Director, Merchandise Hardlines.



College / University diploma or degree in Business and/or Purchasing preferred.

Previous experience as a Merchandise Manager or Buyer preferred.

High energy with an entrepreneurial attitude.

Experience and knowledge of the hand tools and sporting goods industries would be an asset.

Willingness to work ongoing extended hours and travel as needed.

Excellent communication, planning, organizational and negotiating skills.

Embraces technology and uses it as a competitive advantage, excellent computer skills.

Leadership experience with the ability to manage, motivate and direct an effective team.

Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
